I was having a conversation with someone at the gym where I teach kids/adult classes 4 times per week the other day, and he asked why I won’t ref Jiu-Jitsu anymore.
“It’s good money,” he said when mentioning the $250+ per day that you make from refereeing Jiu-Jitsu matches all day long.
What I said was this:
“There are easier ways to make $300 in a day than standing on a mat and getting yelled at by Jiu-Jitsu coaches and the parents of 7-year-old Jiu-Jitsu competitors.”
I hate the job of being a ref, so I don’t do it.
Is refereeing Jiu-Jitsu particularly difficult?
Not really.
However, it is exhausting. It’s boring. It’s a long day.
The money you make from refereeing is a perfect example of something that is easy money, but not good money.
This is a core principle any member of the creator economy needs to understand in order to be their best self from a business standpoint.
