Saturday at Primal MKE for a team grappling event.

On paper, Saturday couldn’t have gone much better for me and my teammates at the Primal Pro Grappling event in Milwaukee.

My teammate Mach and I both submitted 8 of our 9 opponents, and our team dominated the competition to win the $1000 prize.

Our team had a total of 27 matches between us, and 18 of them ended in submission victories. For me, as a 24-year-old Jiu-Jitsu athlete, I’ll never complain about an extra few hundred bucks and some competition experience before the major tournaments that are coming up.

But at the same time, I can’t help but feel a little frustrated with my performance over the weekend.

On paper, it looks like everything was perfect.

As most people say “a win’s a win”.

I just don’t think this is true.

A win is not a win. Not all wins are created equal.
