The Games We Play
Some you have to, some you want to.
I’ve always been a fan of this quote from Naval Ravikant:
“The reason to win the game is to be free of it.”
This idea is true in so many of the games that we play in life.
The reason to date is to find a partner and be free of the dating game
The reason to win the money game is to be free of money problems
The reason to get your black belt in Jiu-Jitsu is so that you can be free from the getting your next belt game
But there are some cases in life when you play the game for a different reason.
Some games in life you have to play. Most of us have to figure out how to solve our money problems so we can survive. Most of us have to figure out how to solve the loneliness problem so we find partners.
But other games are different. Some games you are even not free of, even if you win.
Those are the games that you play because you want to.
Today, I want to think about those games. The fun ones.
