Doing competitive Jiu-Jitsu for a career is a funny thing.
It feels like most of the time, I am completely flying by the seat of my pants. I’m either scavenging for pennies or I have struck a gold mine that I’m terrified is going to dry up at any moment. There seems to be no in-between.
It’s really hard work every single day, and the payoff is often grim.
It’s a chaotic way to live. It’s challenging. It’s stressful.
If you’re not questioning yourself often, I’m not sure you’re doing it right.
It’s a lifestyle, but I don’t know if it’s a career.
This leads us to an important question:
Is a career in Jiu-Jitsu possible?
I’ve talked to hundreds of BJJ gym owners. Some are millionaires, and others are broke. Some are world champions, but most are not.
