Why You Need to Slow Down to Speed Up
This is what the best grapplers do better than everyone else.
After ADCC last week, I had a heavier come down than I’ve ever had from a Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
This was because of 3 main reasons:
ADCC was the biggest tournament I’ve ever competed in
Although 4th in the world is pretty good, losing the bronze medal match broke my heart a bit
Saturday — upsetting a bunch of people — was one of the highs of my career
Once the tournament ended, I started to feel a bit lost. I didn’t know what was next. I still don’t really have a good idea what’s next. It’s been over a week, and I still don’t have a major goal to throw myself into.
If you’ve been following my writing for a while, you know this is unchartered waters for me.
But ADCC 2026 is a long way away. I have to figure something out, and I think there’s an important lesson to be learned from this.
