A few years ago, I visited Austin, Texas. I went and trained at the B-Team, got tapped out a bunch, got my guard passed, and proclaimed, like Friedrich Nietzsche in The Gay Science that “guard is dead”.

I even wrote a whole article about this training weekend (you can check that out here).

What’s crazy about that article isn’t that its ideas are no longer valid — what’s crazy is how much those preliminary observations that I’ve made have changed and how much they have impacted the grappler that I am and the grappler that I am aiming to become.
