This post will be my 161st article for this year.
It’s been a really busy year and much has happened and much has changed.
If you couldn’t tell by the 5000+ word review from the other day, every year at the end of the year, I reflect and reminisce obsessively. Part of the reason why I do this is because I enjoy it, but a big part is because of the growth that I feel it brings me. The easiest way to truly feel done with a year is to put the year under a microscope and review your efforts.
That’s what we’re doing today. These are my favorite articles from this year.
The articles I’m about to share were not all super high-performing articles, but they’re articles that I wrote and am still proud of several months after releasing them.
I hope you enjoy revisiting these 6 articles with me.
Happy New Year!

When I was in my early 20s, I loved “the grind”.
There will be a lot of changes with The Grappler’s Diary in 2025, but not many changes with this newsletter.
I’m just going to keep training, learning, writing, and sharing what I learned.
Hopefully, this list gives you something to read today while you’re getting ready to begin the new year.
More stuff coming very soon :)
Over the last 2 years, I’ve been writing notes to myself on the experience of training, competing in, and teaching Jiu-Jitsu at the highest levels of the sport.
I started writing these notes when I was competing in regional shows around the US and I finally finished the book after ADCC 2024.
It was a multi-year project, but A Grappler’s Diary: 151 Notes on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Experience is officially ready for the world.
If you love to train, love to read, want to learn how to get better, and maybe also want to get to know me a little better, this book is for you. Think The Daily Stoic meets Jiu-Jitsu.
151 notes on the experience from someone who’s devoted the last 10 years of their life to it.
This book will be available via ebook and paperback. Pre-order information will be available on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.
The book will be out on the 13th of January.
